PROF-ELP
prof_elp_logoThe project has developed an innovative European Language Portfolio (ELP) for adults aiming to improve their employability by demonstrating their foreign language competencies in a professional context. The ELP developed in this project will be presented for validation by the Council of Europe (CoE) and responds to the needs of language learners and employers, as well as language and employment service providers. It is not tied to a specific vocational sector but can be used for language learning in any professional context.
The Prof-ELP project consortium consisted of six partners from five EU countries (Spain, Greece, Poland, Sweden and the UK) and was led by the Employment Service of Navarra, Spain. Supported by the EU Commission Lifelong Learning Programme (Leonardo da Vinci), the project ran from November 2008 until October 2010.
The consortium has researched and evaluated good practice self-access language learning tools and processes focusing on models for business needs. Research has also been undertaken to determine how the project can build on the success of Adult ELPs which have already been validated (e.g. the CILT ELP for adults). Please see the CoE website for a link to all recognised ELPs. The project has published the Professional ELP as hard copy but also provides access via interactive electronic and digital platforms, please see the link below.

Six workshops have been held in the participating countries, involving stakeholders in the development of the ELP (the UK workshop launching the project was in November 2009).  A training session was held in April, open to stakeholders who would be interested in piloting the ELP with groups of people that they work with during May and June 2010.  Various dissemination events have taken place throughout the UK, including a stand at The London Language Show at Earls Court in October 2010.
